Here's some food for thought...
There is a group of people that have lived on North Sentinel Island in the Bay of Bengal for over 60,000 years. They will try to kill any outsiders that try to come ashore. They are hunter/gatherers, with no evidence of agriculture. No one knows exactly how many people are in the tribe; estimates range from 50 to 400.
I'm sure there are many people that would call this tribe "uncivilized" as they have not been touched by civilization. There are no phones or computers, washing machines or even plumbing. But who are we to say that they are uncivil? Let us take a look at the word...
Mind you, trying to kill anyone that tries to come ashore is hardly polite, but I do not blame them. Is the rest of the world really civilized? The definition does not say technologically more advanced. Socially, we are going backwards. We have more ways to connect with others anywhere in the world at any time instantly, yet we cannot hold a real life conversation with someone sitting next to us. Culturally, which is defined as having refined manners, taste and education, is also questionable. The quality of education is on the decline here in the US and our taste in entertainment (think the Kardashians, Real Housewives, etc.) is hardly refined. And morally.... well, if you have watched any news lately you can see any number of stories of immoral acts. Police abusing their authority as well as the people they are meant to protect, mass murderers, selling baby body parts.
I don't blame them for wanting to be left alone. I would not call their life easy; I'm sure it is quite challenging. But I bet it is a lot more simple.
